The Circumpolar Biodiversity Monitoring Program (CBMP) is a global effort involving scientists, governments, Indigenous groups, and conservation organizations. It focuses on keeping track of Arctic plants and animals to help with conservation. They use various measures, like counting species and studying habitats, to understand how the Arctic environment is changing. One important tool they use is the Arctic Species Trend Index (ASTI), which monitors the trends of over 300 Arctic animals. This helps us understand the overall health of the Arctic ecosystem. The goal is to develop strategies to protect the Arctic environment as it faces significant changes. The CBMP covers the entire Arctic region and aims to provide information that can guide policies to protect this unique and changing environment.
