Serological Data on Influenza A from Birds and Mammals on the Arctic Coastal Plain of Northern Alaska, 2011-2017

Blood Collection: All birds were live-captured on their breeding areas (June-August); 3-5 ml of whole blood was drawn from the jugular vein. Arctic Foxes were shot or trapped near Utqiagvik (May-June); blood was drawn from the heart post-euthanasia. Caribou were live-captured on their wintering area in the east-central Brooks Range (April); blood was drawn from the jugular or cephalic veins. Polar Bears were captured on the sea ice of the southern Beaufort Sea (March-April); blood was drawn from the jugular or femoral veins.
